Yeji and Ryujin have been best friends since they were thirteen. Not the loud, obvious kind, more like the kind where they sit on opposite ends of the room doing different things but always know exactly what the other is feeling. Everyone at school thinks they're inseparable in a platonic way. They walk home together, share earbuds on the bus, fall asleep on call without talking. It's normal. Too normal. The problem is that Yeji has been in love with Ryujin for years and has convinced herself it's something she can survive with. Ryujin, on the other hand, doesn't think she's capable of love in that way at all. She's emotionally distant, nonchalant, half-joking about everything, because caring too much once ruined her, and she promised herself she'd never let it happen again. Senior year starts and everything feels like it's running out. Last chances. Last walks home. University applications, futures that don't automatically include each other anymore. Yeji starts pulling away, not dramatically, just subtly. Shorter texts. Sitting with other people. Laughing a little less around Ryujin. And Ryujin notices... but doesn't know how to ask without sounding like she cares. Then someone else enters Yeji's life. Nothing serious, just enough to make Ryujin feel something sharp and unfamiliar in her chest. Jealousy. Fear. The realization that maybe she doesn't want to be "fine" without Yeji after all. The story becomes a slow unraveling, missed timing, unsent messages, nights where one of them almost confesses but doesn't. Until one breaking point: graduation night. Empty classrooms, lights off, the school already starting to feel like a memory. Yeji finally decides she's done waiting for something that may never come... and Ryujin has to choose whether she's going to let the most important person in her life walk away just because she's afraid to say the truth out loud.

Yeji always thought the world would end in fire, or maybe in a flood. But when it came, the end was quiet-broken only by the groans of the dead. They rose in many forms: the stiffs, the lurkers, and the relentless swarmers that consumed entire streets. Humanity didn't fall in a single night. Piece by piece, it unraveled. And survival became more than just outrunning the dead. It became about trust. About hope. About love. And above all...about the ones who remain.
