Nightmare, a Lord with his own campaign and land, was sealed into a marriage with Cross. found himself entangled in the war his father-in-law X was supposed to fight in, taking the older man's place. He left his spouse for a war that lasted 7 years. Cross. a poor monster abused by his Father, X, who clearly uses him for his own gain regardless of his son's feelings, he does not care for Cross. and soon Cross found himself alone again the day after his wedding as Nightmare had departed for war. leaving him at the mercy of his Father once again.

Going for a mythological theme, almost, with my own spin on it. kinda inspired. This Crossmare story. It's not uncommon for God to play, befriend or even toy with other mortals. But rare it is for a God to ever do more than just that. for some Gods, falling inlove and marrying a mortal was unheard of, very uncommon, a mortal and a God may never bare children or fall inlove as some say it is forbidden. Nightmare finds himself in this predicament, a mortal guard catching his eye, he couldn't help but grow fond of this mortal. Cross never thought he'd ever catch the eye of a God, especially one like Nightmare, scared but stubborn, Cross tried to balance his life.
