When Kaya's asked by Gandalf to join the company of Thorin Oakinshield as their scout to help them reclaim their home. She hesitates at first but agrees to the adventure. But when she meets them though, her thoughts were right about her being half-elf that none of the dwarves want anything to do with or even have her around or so she thinks. Raign also known as Ray is a half-breed half-Shifter and half dwarf and the young half-sister of Dwalin and Balin. Though the only thing Dwarvish about her is her height. She gets called half-breed by disgusted Dwarves and hides her horrid and dark past. She joins the Company hoping to prove she is worth something. She learns on her journey what it is to be wanted and that things will change. As she gets closer to the Company she realizes one may be more than just a friend. Will everything work out? Will she find love? Will they succeed?

When Thorin sets out to reclaim Erebor, Gandalf calls upon her skills to help them and to defend the line of Durin. Perhaps a certain dark haired prince can let her love again. (Kili love story)

The wizard replied, shifting as a small breeze came through the forest. "And I am not trained in the art of raising children." The two men momentarily turned their gazes back to young Kyja, who was too occupied following the winged insect. Compassion soon struck the wizard's heart. "Yet... there is someone that could care for her. He is an odd fellow, relates more to animals than any other living creature- but he is genuinely kind, and will be able to assist Kyja in the following years. Radagast the Brown is his name." And so, the journey begins. Far into adulthood, Kyja is introduced to a completely new world when Gandalf proposes an offer- to join a band of dwarves to help them save their homeland. Haunted by past memories and scars, the skin-changer is forced to come to terms with her own history while accepting the new fate she has been given.
