After a disastrous coming-out to his family, Victor moves away to New York for university to start over. He is hoping for a fresh start in a city where nobody knows his name, his family, or his never-ending feeling of loneliness. He tries really hard to be a different person, to be nice to people this time around, but turns out it is very difficult to change, especially when his new roommate is the one person he fought with most and didn't think he'd ever see again. Updates every Friday. Excerpt Sam leaned in closer, lowering his voice to a whisper. "Those people behind us, did you hear them?" he asked. Victor shook his head. He had turned all the sounds around them out. Sam was still close to him when he spoke again. "The girl told the guy she would rather eat dirt than go on a date with him." Victor couldn't help it, he laughed softly too. "That's harsh." "Yeah," Sam laughed again. His eyes sparkled with joy. He slowly leant back in his chair. "What would you rather do, than go on a date with me?" he asked with a mischievous smile. Was he flirting with him? "Anything," Victor quickly said. "Name one thing." "I would rather kiss Santa Claus than go on a date with you," Victor said. Sam laughed wholeheartedly. "Another." "I would rather," Victor paused, thinking, "Go back and do another seven years of boarding school than go on a date with you." Sam laughed even harder this time around. Victor found he rather liked this game, so he tried again, determined to make Sam laugh again. "I would rather never eat lasagne again than go on a date with you." Sam laughed again. "Now that is outrageous!" he said. "You love lasagne." "I do," Victor smiled, pleased that Sam had noticed his love for lasagne somehow. Not that it was a secret, but still. It wasn't something he had told him.
