But, for the Pogues, this summer was more than just a story. It was a novel. Lives changed every time they blinked their formally innocent eyes. When kids are little, treasure hunts are for pirates. But for Everleigh and her twin brother John B, treasure hunts were the reason their dad would avoid telling them anything. Treasure hunts were an excuse to disappear for days at a time. And treasure hunts, were the escape from the inconsistent life of living on The Cut. Bets are made, hands are thrown, and lives are constantly at risk during the hunt of a lifetime. They thought their life of being carefree was over. But to them, being carefree was just a mindset, and if you could handle the pressure... there was no turning back.

Waking up next to another boy, when you were also a boy, was a little more interesting, but still nothing to write home about. But waking up in Nico Beckett's sheets? To Wesley, it was a nightmare come to life. ~~~ Wesley Dillon's life was uneventful, and frankly, he liked it that way. He didn't get into trouble, he kept his grades up, he played it safe. He never did anything to rock the boat he was floating in, the calm waters of his lake left undisturbed. Now starting his last year in high school, Wes was content to continue living his life as he always has - but sometimes, and only sometimes, he caught himself wishing that something could make ripples in his tiny world.
