The story follows Spike and Mya through senior year as they slowly rebuild trust. Spike has to prove he has changed not only when he is trying to win Mya back, but also after they get back together. Their relationship becomes deep, romantic, and intense, but still careful and emotionally safe. They call each other baby, babe, and bae naturally here and there. They kiss sometimes, but the story keeps their love meaningful, not rushed. Spike learns that getting Mya back is not the ending. It is the test.
