Once upon a time, men and women entered marriage with very clear policies regarding the division of labour: he would go to work and "bring home the bacon," while she would stay at home and cook, clean, and raise the children. Things aren't the same as they used to be. Modern Indian romance, intimacies, and marriages are far more complicated than assessments and reality television shows portray. In India, arranged marriages are an unique and complex process. People seek a 'soulmate' with whom they can spend the rest of their lives, but they also have specific expectations of the potential bride or groom. There is a strong narrative about finding love, compatibility, and connection, but what stands out is a real intent to replicate class identities beneath all of this. In a country that depends on a spending population, "middle class" is a necessary armour, a shared language, a value system, and, more importantly, a way of life. Life may be unjust, irritating, and disarmingly disappointing on most days. Being middle class, on the other hand, creates character in a culture obsessed with the need to be a part of the rat race. Marriage also places the onus of making sacrifices, concessions, and making the marriage work on the couple. This tale illuminates the unseen and underappreciated aspects of an Indian arranged marriage, the life of a middle-class wife and husband and their shared responsibilities as they navigate through life. Immense amount of desi tadka awaiting your way. *I don't own the illustration on the poster.*

"Sir, Ma'am, please calm down. We will reach our homes safely." The air hostess tried to calm down the panicked passengers after our plane got hijacked and the terrorists killed a man right in front of our eyes. There is chaos all around. These terrorists are negotiating with our government to release their leader and the deadline they gave is 5 hours. They killed a man when the government didn't give any reply even after an hour. One of the terrorists is arguing with an officer over the communication channel when the doors of the runway entrance opened and a man dressed in an army uniform came out holding another at gunpoint The thing that shocked me more is the girl who followed them. She is wearing a jean top and her hair is tied in a high pony. The man who was held hostage tried to punch the officer but she held his hand mid-air and pinned him to the ground within a second and kept the gun in his mouth. What is she doing here? Isn't she supposed to be in Delhi now? What is she doing in Mumbai? What is my fiancee doing here?

I saw her walking to and fro looking at the window and to the bed impatiently. She was clearly disappointed because of the rain. Clad in a white saree with simple accessories and free hairstyle, she was looking ethereal. When she returned from the window with a frown on her face, I grabbed her hand and made her sit on my lap. She gasped at my action. But it was swallowed inside my mouth as I latched my lips on hers taking her for a surprise. "enna .. enna pandra?" ( what are you doing?) she stuttered breaking our kiss. "ennennamo panna asa dhan.. panatuma? unaku ok va?" ( I want to do so many things with you, shall I ? is it ok for you?) Another short story of a cute couple.

"what do you want?" There was a silence suddenly with the way I asked. She was taken back by my words. "I ..I .. just casually called to talk with you. My father gave me your number today.. " "Vidya.. is it ok if we talk later after marriage? I don't like to spend time talking over the phone or messaging before the marriage" my words came little harsh. "ohh.. ok.. ok.. Sorry.. Really sorry to have disturbed you.. sorry" she cut the call abruptly.

The sky here looks lonely. No star twinkles back at me even on the murkiest nights. Where are you my Moon? Why don't I see you? Come, fill my world again with your glow. Come, shine down your brilliance on me once more. Say something. Talk to me. If not then at least look at me... Spare me a single glance... ...breathe life into me. ~~~~~~~~ Her jaded eyes brimmed with life when they fell upon his lone figure, looking back at her with the same intensity, eyes staring directly into her soul. She fervently wished he wasn't a figment of her vivid imagination. Because if he were, she wouldn't be able to trust herself anymore. Her breath hitched seeing him taking slow, deliberate steps in her direction, making her heart thump madly against her bosom. And soon a familiar name rolled down her tongue... "Eklavya..." ~~~~~~~~ Note: This is part two of EklavyaxAnamika Universe. It cannot be read as a standalone.
