However, if you type Batman in the search results, the results go up to 41.8K and on typing Superman you get 42.8K stories so here I'm assuming that these heroes have fandoms of their own that are much more popular than the collective DC fandom (just an assumption...) While some of these fanfics are amazing and well worth every reader's time, there are a great many fanfictions which are either too cliché, contain too many errors or just not that appealing.
