The story is narrated by a young boy named Jason Hood who is Part Dragon and Part Human. He and 49 other "Tarks" are going to be put on an island to kill each other as a big test that Tom Markers (Their Head Chief) set up. The winner will be crowned The Last Tark. He or she that wins is obviously the most powerful Tark, and will be taken to a special school. This school is not really a school, but is disguised as a school. It is really an organization of mythological and magical creatures that come together to help save the world from The Dark Ones. When the second most powerful 'Dark One' comes back, Jason and his new friends have to work together to defeat him and save the world.
