Adriana and Charlotte Lancaster have been orphans for the past five years. They were supposed to be sent to a group home but Adriana feared being separated from her sister, so instead, she got a stable job that would allow her to emancipate herself and get custody of her 13-year-old sister. Adriana accomplished this on her own at the age of 17 with no one but her sister by her side. After getting emancipated and custody of her sister she balanced work, studying, and taking care of a 13-year-old as if she was the parent. This left her with no time for her to mourn her parent's absence properly or for her to develop a life of her own.
Now 21-year-old Adriana is struggling to keep rebellious Charlotte under control, keeping her well-paying job, and holding back from feeling anything for any man. She knows she can't keep a relationship when she is the guardian of a troublesome teenager. But when she collapses in the arms of the CEO's son she can't help but feel an instant connection. That scares Adriana, especially since she'll be working for him in a couple of months. The handsome young man will be taking over as his father retires, meaning Adriana will be his secretary.
Evan Adams is the son of a powerful CEO, he will be taking his father's place in a matter of months. The 25-year-old isn't sure he's ready to take on all that responsibility at once, he wishes to enjoy life for a while longer. He wants to enjoy going partying and clubbing for just a little more. He wants to play around without work getting in the way, or anything else for that matter.
But what happens when Adriana Lancaster, who's always had responsibility and committed to everything but men, falls into the arms of Evan Adams, who has never known much responsibility til now and only knows how to mess around with women? Can Adriana hold back having feelings for Evan just like she has for every other man that has tried being in her life? Or will she allow him to love her?
