As it turns out, being short-staffed, Max was called in to make first contact with an Elite Predator warrior that by sheer coincidence and a string of ill luck ended up captured. Why they didn't call in an anthropologist was beyond her, and furthermore, she finds herself to be the only one within a 5-mile radius with common sense. Her entanglement soon sees her tagging along with, or sort of heroically abducted by, said alien to settle the score of having been freed by her.
