After the battle between hope and despair, Makoto Naegi, the Ultimate hope triumphed and the brainwashed remnants of despair were saved. The survivors of the first killing game, along with the participants of the second, all joined the Future Foundation, helping to restore the world back into its peaceful state. Yasuhiro Hagakure then makes a prophecy: "Some of the dead will return, not as themselves but as reincarnations. Two spirits will mix into one and they will be reborn."
