Aur iss baar tumhe kuch nahi hoga. Iss baar bas barbaadi hogi. Unki. Jinhone meri jaan ki yeh haalat ki hai." And it wasn't a promise. It was a curse. It was a vow to every god in existence. Then who?

Sabrina Reed is Nathan Alden's wife, but not by his choice... EXCERPT****** "I found her like this, sir," the guard announced. Sabrina stirred at the voice, blinking groggily and rubbing her eyes to chase away the blur clouding her vision. A towering figure stepped into focus. "What are you doing out here, Sabrina?" Nathan's voice was sharp, cutting through the fog of sleep. His jaw was tight, words pressed between clenched teeth. She blinked again, brushing hair from her face as she sat up. "What are you doing out here?" he repeated-louder this time, more demanding. He stood before her in a jet-black suit and white button-up shirt, sleeves rolled just enough to expose forearms clenched across his chest. His eyebrows were drawn tight, his eyes narrowed. "I came back late last night and... the guard was gone, so... I just fell asleep," she said softly, eyes lowering under the weight of his glare. He dismissed the guard with a silent nod, then stepped closer. "Where were you last night?" he asked, voice taut with suspicion. She yawned, trying to blink herself fully awake. "I've been volunteering at the animal shelter." "Get up," he ordered, tone clipped and harsh. "You expect me to believe that? Don't animal shelters close at a decent time?" She remained seated, her legs too stiff to move. "Yes, but-" "Get up!" he barked.

"You didn't eat again," he said quietly. She didn't turn. Didn't even flinch. "Maira," he spoke again, softer this time, taking a step closer. "I brought dinner. Atleast have a few bites." Her voice came out barely above a whisper, low, trembling. "Why? So I can stay strong enough to keep pretending?" The words hit him hard, knocking the breath out of him. "You're not pretending," Hadi said quickly, defensively, though he wasn't sure who he was trying to convince, himself or her. She turned slowly, eyes red and hollow. "Aren't I?" she asked, voice trembling. "I sleep in this room like a stranger. Even though I'm your wife. I exist in your world, Hadi... but can I ever exist in your heart?" "Maira," he began, this was the first time she had openly claimed her title as his wife and he didn't know how to respond, but he said with his tone heavy, "you know everything. I... I married you because I..." "...felt guilty," she finished for him, her voice sharp, cutting through the air. "You hit me with your car. My life shattered. And you had to save me to get rid of your guilt." He froze. Words deserted him. Her eyes dropped to the floor, tears gathering along her lashes. "At least Lubna has your love. Your son has your name.
