And all that keeps Nickel from spiraling is a chance to tease Balloon sometimes. And that's how it is. Or how it was, until Nickel saw Balloon's room door open. Until he saw Balloon crying on the floor, holding a pillow close. Until he read the letters Balloon had splayed out on the carpet. Until big, dumb, stupid Balloon finally leaned on his shoulder and he felt his chest melt.

Nickel didn't want to seem like the odd one out, especially since both his cousins, Nickel (from BFDI) and Coiny, were already in relationships. So, in a moment of panic, he told them he was dating someone too. Now, he's been asked to stay with them for the weekend to go on a triple date and he definitely needs a fake boyfriend.
