Dauntless has created an image for Eric after an incident during his initiation and no one knows the real him nor do they want to know the real him. When it is time for new initiates, he has to overlook their training as part of his leader training. When an Amity transfer gets a little too close to Eric, she wants to know who he really is, NOT the ruthless leader image he projects to be. Eric doesn't know how to react because no one has ever tried to get close to him before so how should he react? Will he react in a good or bad way? Eric finds out later that he might start to have feelings towards her. But when he finds out she's divergent, he has to choose to stay in Dauntless or betray Dauntless. This is the second book of I am dauntless tetralogy. Jade made it through initiation, so did Four. But they are not as close as they were at the beginning. Both have drifted apart into their own life's at dauntless. Jade is with Eric. They both take leadership at dauntless as Jade also trains initiates seasonally. Two years have passed and a new Stiff catches Jade's eye. She notice something different with Four, he comes around as you both train the initiates. But so does the new stiff. What happens when dauntless teams up with erudite to get rid of all divergent? The new stiff is actually a divergent. Will Jade help the divergent and go against Eric or will she create crimes of killing innocent people?
