So they travel to Cali by car, crash at motels, and search for Sam Mayfield. Max is afraid of what she might find, remembering all the bad things he was involved with. What will she encounter? Will she be able to rekindle her relationship with him after so long apart? TW: Some chapters contain violent memories from Max's past revolving around her father.
