Poluição era a consequência que as pessoas estavam lidando por todas as maquinas a vapor, mas claro que, os mais afetados eram os da classe baixa. Ishigami Senkuu trabalha em uma oficina nos subúrbios da cidade fazendo reparos de maquinas para pessoas sem condições de pagarem o real preço daquele serviço. Sua rotina é quebrada quando tem que usar de seus conhecimentos sobre maquinas para salvar a vida de um lutador clandestino chamado Shishio Tsukasa.

Ishigami Senku nunca foi fissurado em assuntos tão fúteis quanto romance, pelo menos não da mesma forma que Taiju e Yuzuriha poderiam ser. Isso, claro, até que ele se deparou com Tsukasa Shishio, o monitor do acampamento de verão no qual ele foi forçado a passar suas férias.
