Juliet's parents died when she was young and she never got to experience having a family. She lived a miserable and lonely life. Soon she discovers Jake's ignoring her calls when multiple attempts to try to contact him end up going unanswered and for things to start unravelling, the person who had been there for her during the messy breakup with Jake, no longer a shoulder for her to lean on.
