A 23-year-old man crashes into the ocean while piloting a new power engine, reaching Mach 10.8 at sunrise. Suddenly, the controls malfunction, and the ship vibrates violently. Struggling to escape, he finds himself rescued by an 8-foot-tall, beautiful anthro shark woman in her 30s who introduces herself as Kara Jaws. She is a businesswoman and CEO of a computer company that is developing a new phone operating system. Although he doesn't know how to repay her kindness, he senses that her past is complex and chooses to remain respectful, keeping his feelings to himself.

Do you fight for your country, or do you fight for yourself? Do you fight for what's right, or because you simply have to? Take orders, kill the enemy. Do as told. Doing so fosters a loathing for the other side of the war, the blame for all your side has lost in the conflict. Without the war finding its end, the next generation ends up no different, that hatred bred into them. Would a man be correct in thinking he is on the right side? He finds himself taking a job to infiltrate the enemy, gain their trust, learn their secrets, their weaknesses, and report back to base. There is no right side, only the one you fight for. It is the last official school day for the seniors, and tantalizing news is being spread around the popular cliques of the school that a massive party was being held by the most socially prestigious students in the entire school to celebrate; the only catch being that you have to be in the know to even attend. Although Francis was never much of a social butterfly and much preferred to spend his weekends at home, he finds himself roped into the occasion by his only two real friends who were anthros, Sullivan and Drake. Even though Francis was dreading the occasion at first, deep down he wished to break out of his introverted social shell and make some new friends or maybe even meet a girl. But once he actually arrives to the party, he quickly discovers that he is in way over his head, finding himself in the middle of a party that is completely out of his element. But as the night goes, he discovers sides to himself that even he didn't know had existed and learns how to live life to its fullest during that one wild night.

A certain marine not even out of his twenties finds himself and his colleges around him as the first to enter Iraq as a part of Operation Restore Democracy, just as the marines before him had done only thirteen years ago as a part of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
