Love has the power to heal the deepest wounds. #ElvenKingsNeedLoveToo Set during Lord of the Rings. Thranduil/OC Thranduil's not afraid to do whatever necessary to push back the darkness threatening his forest. The hands of the king have the power to heal, but will it be enough to save his kingdom...and himself? This story will have romance, adventure, friendship, angst, and a lot of dwarves generally misbehaving. Written by an author who has read ALL the books and seen the movies. Story will follow book canon, not necessarily some of the things that PJ added to the movies. Beautiful cover art by the talented Kimberly80 on deviantart.

***Inspired by Ed Sheeran's 'One' and all the fluffy Elrond/Celebrian fan art and fanficiton out there*** Lord Elrond patiently awaits the return of his beloved wife - Celebrian promised him she would return before summer's end. She has never broken a vow to him, but with autumn in Imladris fast approaching, Elrond grows restless. A darkness descends on the peaceful valley...a shadow so dreadful that it threatens to shatter the bonds of love and family forever. ***Disclaimer: Clearly Tolkien is the owner of all these magnificent characters and places. I am merely borrowing them to satisfy my selfish cravings.

When the queen of Mirkwood unexpectedly dies Thanduil is left without a wife, but more importantly his son is left without a mother. The king knows he cannot fill the ruins left by a dead mother so he appoints another woman to take her place, to look after his son when he cannot, and to give him the warmth he no longer feels himself. Inladris is a highborn elf who did not expect this responsibility to be thrust upon her, but she accepts it with aplomb and does her best to not only raise a prince but to give the king a friend she suspects he doesn't realize he needs. This is the story of their peculiar friendship through grief, and how two opposites may or may not successfully raise a child. *This is not a romance.

Luinil has a dark secret. She's tried to keep it from everyone, since the moment the Eagles set her in in the path of Feanor, but after years and years of hiding, it has finally been discovered: she is part Vala, the daughter of Melkor. Though Melkor made a vow to kill her, he hasn't acted upon it yet, despite the fact he could have. She's worried for herself, but she's also worried for her best friend. While most of her is evil inside because of her father, a small part of her mother, a Sindarin Elf, shines brightly through the darkness, so Luinil chooses to only act on that. But Feanor, sinking further and further into darkness and lust for the Silmarils, becomes less friendly to Luinil every day. She tries not to let it influence her, but...Feanor may bring out her dark side, and then she will have no choice but to join her father.

Every day, I will publish a page telling how many days until the Desolation of Smaug is released on December, 13,2013. The page will also have a fun fact related to Lord of the Rings or The Hobbit, or a story! And now, every time you comment, answer a question, or earn a dedication, you earn points, and the winner receives anything they ask for on wattpad, whether it be a dedication, or just the glory and honor. So, come on in! Our hearts are open and our eyes are filled with joy as you join us in the wait for The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug! Credit for the idea to @theamazingsapphire, so check her out. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ That being said: Sapphire: You can't even begin to claim that all of the ideas on both Days to the desolation of smaug and Countdown to there and back again are original. You did steal almost every last idea of mine. I DID NOT directly plagiarize you. I came up with the points, I had the idea to update periodically, and you even mimicked my first description of this. You copied MY idea for the facts for each day (or week). This makes you a hypocrite. And I can prove it. Look at the day I published this by scrolling over the bottom of the cover on this story. You may need to go to the first update for this. Now look at the first quiz(called "quiz time! XD) in "days to the desolation of smaug". The day I published this countdown is four or five days earlier. We both know that "days to the desolation of smaug" was originally only the first update, and that's it.
