Things such as Nico di Angelo, the boy that showed up at the hospital with an unconscious girl. But that wasn't all. There was a sickness that was sweeping through Oregon (that's where the story takes place) that's putting Will's father in a difficult place as a doctor. Lately, Will has been a few minutes late to class, because he was helping his dad down at the hospital. The rules had been infinitely changed, because the hospital needed sensible help and a lot of it; and Will was perfect for the job. And then Nico showed up with his sister in his arms. They spend their nights in the castle kitchens, becoming accustomed to each other's presence far more quickly than either would be willing to admit. That is, until things that a turn, and life very quickly becomes very /not/ okay. Nico and Will each pack their bags, not realizing that they're not the only ones fleeing tonight.
