While appearing across the globe, Kaiju are particularly common in the eastern hemisphere, especially in Japan. In order to combat against these "Strange Creatures", humanity have built many type of defense, items and weapons, thus creating the Defense Force. Kaiju that have threatened humanity for centuries have become a common thing, and they were able to be fought against compare in the past. It is their duty to protect the people. However, among the fourteen different Division across Japan, there is one particular Division that act on their own: Tenth Division. While the Defense Force usually wait for Kaiju to appear to mobilize, this Division did not wait. They, instead, hunt for them directly, to investigate and exterminate them.
