Ricky Bowen has been in love with Gina Porter since he was eighteen years old. Eighteen years old and pining desperately over a girl he thought he'd never have, standing in the wings at summer camp, falling in love with her all over again as she pretends to fall in love with someone else.

ricky doesn't go out much, but tonight he was dragged out against his will. He's at this party and there's a girl, he doesn't know her but everybody else does. There's something about her he doesn't know if it's the way she lights up the room or how overwhelmingly beautiful she is because she truly is but he can't keep his eyes off of her. She catches him staring, they some how end up alone, she introduces herself and the rest is history.

'𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘢 𝘢𝘶 after the show everything seems to be perfect. ricky's life is back to the way it used to be, except for his parents, but it's not gonna last long since gina's going back to east high, thanks to ashlyn.

It certainly wasn't a tale as old as time. Girl watches boy audition for the musical, readily becomes intrigued, Girl uses boy to get other girl to abandon the musical, the plan fails. Boy insults girl, she claps back and they understand each other better than anyone else. They become friends, he spins her around and she can't breathe. Then it all falls apart when she inevitably leaves and all she can do is pine over him at New Year's Eve parties while he sneaks glances at her with those soft brown eyes. They fight and don't know if they'll ever come back together, gravitational pull be damned.

Ricky and Gina spend the majority of the summer apart, choosing to take second chances on other people. The tangled web of miscommunication somehow worsens, and the two wind up hating each other all while starring in East High's latest production of 'Into The Woods'. Ricky thinks his senior year is off to a great start.

Ricky Bowen is a semi-regular teen jock at East High School hiding a big secret: After being bitten by a radioactive spider in his freshman year, he has been saving the world as Spider-Man and has been able to balance that out with his learning and athletics for over three years. That is, until his senior year when he learns that a new threat has come to invade Salt Lake City. With Ricky always having to run off and fight the mysterious threat, it is his job to not only save his high school friends, but his environment as Spider-Man. Ricky's senior year is turned upside down in other ways when Gina Porter transfers to East High. After learning Gina's boyfriend, E.J. Caswell, goes to the school Ricky competes against, he is filled with distraught as he continuously works out how to love and fight, and how to be brave while also (hopefully) making a home in Gina's heart.
