Johnnie McGarrett, raised by her grandfather-the esteemed former officer John McGarrett-grew up with resilience, loyalty, and a longing for connection. Her father, Steve McGarrett, was a distant presence: a voice on the phone, a face in a photograph, and a hero perpetually out of reach.
When her grandfather is murdered, Johnnie's world is upended. Steve returns to Hawai'i for good, vowing to catch his father's killer and revive his legacy by forming the new Hawaii Five-0 task force.
For Steve, the mission is clear.
Being a father, however, is not.
Now living under the same roof as the daughter he barely knows, Steve tries to raise Johnnie with the same discipline and intensity that made him a legendary Navy SEAL. Unfortunately for him, Johnnie McGarrett is no ordinary teenager. She carries her grandfather's grit, her mother's instincts, and a fierce independence forged from years of growing up without him.
And Steve soon learns there's even more about his daughter he doesn't know-including the fact that she's secretly dating a confident and reckless naval aviator, Lieutenant Jake "Hangman" Seresin.
As Steve builds Five-0 and hunts the man responsible for his father's death, he and Johnnie must learn to navigate a fragile new relationship. Trust, grief, and loyalty collide as father and daughter struggle to become a family.
In the end, Johnnie must decide what it truly means to be a McGarrett.
Will she follow the dangerous legacy of the men in her family...
Or carve out a future that belongs only to her?
