Chase could think of two reasons a stranger would help him carry his groceries. Neither applied to the guy who kept showing up at his door. The guy wasn't kind; in fact, he was far from it, but he wasn't anything else either. Whatever it was, Chase was sure the scallywag would get bored sooner or later. He would just enjoy this brief, unearned comfort of having someone worry about him. No need to think too much about it. It would pass, like it always did.
