Freya Johnsson was supposed to be HYDRA's first female super-soldier, until the serum "failed," her brother dumped her in a ditch, and she clawed her way back to life. She disappeared, reinvented herself, and became a millionaire thief with a talent for pissing off the rich.
But when the Avengers catch her trail, everything changes.
Now she's stuck in their Tower with an ankle monitor, an unsettling amount of free food, and a team of heroes who keep trying to act like she's part of their weird little family. And worst of all, there's Bucky Barnes, another super-soldier, irritatingly handsome, emotionally complicated, and very good at getting under her skin.
They argue. They fight. They accidentally create tension so thick even Natasha rolls her eyes.
Neither of them will admit what's happening.
While Freya slowly earns the team's trust (against her better judgment), HYDRA begins hunting for their "lost asset." And when they find her, she'll have to choose between the freedom she's always wanted... and the people she's starting to care about.

"You're strong," Bucky says, circling me. "Really strong. But your strategy is shit."
My jaw drops. "Excuse me?"
"You heard me." He shrugs. "Too impulsive. No patience. You go for emotional hits instead of tactical ones." He goes to punch me in the face but I catch his fist and twist it.
"You wanna talk about emotional hits?" I snap. "At least I'm not a brainwashed assassin pretending to be a hero after spending decades in ice!"

Enemies to lovers? Slow burn?
Freya would deny everything.
But everyone else can see it coming.
