Decades ago, a devastating fire ravaged nearly half of Sta. Monica's town, claiming lives, crops, cornfields, and animals, leaving survivors with the smoldering remnants of a once-thriving community. The tragedy was identified as arson, and the perpetrator, a farmer driven by rage and greed, was arrested. While the people rejoiced at the resolution, their lives slowly returned to normal, but the land never regained its former fertility and harvests.
The Saavedra family, one of the two prominent families determined to survive, were known landowners alongside the Delmaras, many of whom perished in the fire. Years after the judge's verdict, the Saavedras returned to their lands to help the community rebuild.
Detective Caterina receives mysterious letters but initially dismissed, unaware of the sender's identity. However, when a dead body was discovered in front of the Saavedra house during a celebration, the sender revealed themselves-a prisoner who claimed to have been falsely accused.
