The land of Aleron can be a treacherous place to live. None knows this better than the leïfae, a race of half-breed elves. When four leïfaen youths' entire livelihood is destroyed, they have no choice but to try and survive the cruelties of the world. Taëlenna finds herself in the home of Prince Antalos after tragedy strikes. As she adjusts to her new surroundings, she begins to discover secrets hidden behind the false truths she has somehow found herself in. What are these secrets? What kind of threat do they present? Serena and Kay are taken away from their village after a vicious attack. The other leïfaen prisoners are being used for something, but for what? Nothing good could possibly come from what their captors have in mind for them. Renefaire is rescued and taken care of by the navine; a tribe of nomadic humans who are practiced in the arts of medicine. With no home to return to, she begins to learn the ways of the navine's medicinal practices so she can help others the same way the navine have helped her. But still, she longs to return to her home, to find if any more of her people survived the attack on their home. Their stories took different turns, yet their paths have been destined to cross once again in the future for something much bigger than they ever could have imagined. ~*~*~*~ This is a really old draft. I'm currently working on the new draft and the story is basically nothing like it used to be. But I still hope that you enjoy it. I loved writing this version so much.

Violet Holt has already met Death once. After a failed suicide attempt, she finds herself dumped by her callous mother on the doorstep of her family's desolate oceanside estate. With only the company of her estranged grandmother, comatose grandfather, and the monsters in her head, at least there was no one to interfere with her plans to try again on her eighteenth birthday. No one, except maybe Jack: a skeleton of a boy who says he's there to rake her grandmother's leaves, yet seems more experienced at stalking than grounds-keeping. She knows he's keeping a secret behind his gentle smiles and aloofness, but it's difficult for Violet to be put off by his untimely thin-air appearances when figuring out the mystery of his true identity makes for such a good distraction. Violet's trauma is deeper than the wound on her wrist though, and it cannot be simply whisked away in a whirlwind of guessing games and pleasant gestures. She struggles to reconnect with her grandmother, find forgiveness for her mother, and closure with her grandfather's dire condition, all while battling the strain of it all on her family. Even with a flicker of something hopeful blossoming within herself, Violet knows her birthday plans must be inevitable. Death wouldn't be there for her if it wasn't.

When you're marked you have two choices; fight or die. Nance lives in the past, literally. Her city is a recreation of early twenty-first century society. To the outside world they're experiments, just rats running around a maze. In an impoverished future world, the city seems to be their only chance of finding where they went wrong, or so they say. Nance doesn't know the real purpose of her home, and she doesn't care. All she sees are the one hundred teenagers, just like her, who are killed every year in the barbaric ritual known as the marking. They tattoo your face and pit you against your peers, against the city. Nance doesn't know why, but it doesn't matter, because she's sixteen and it's her turn to be marked. **So I decided to replace the original story with the rewrite because they are pretty much exactly the same. Plus, it's a lot less complicated then having two separate books for the same story.** There is a * next to all rewritten chapters. THE ORIGINAL VERSION IS COMPLETE. IT'S JUST NOT MARKED AS SUCH BECAUSE I GAVE UP ON THE REWRITE.

Do they really believe their saviours to be three teenagers? For Saffron, Blaze and Malia are the only people who can save the race of the Blessed now. Only the Elementals can destroy the villain behind the genocide, yet some elements are missing. They simply cannot defeat the killer without the Lost Element. A mastermind plot. Three pinpricks of light. The Lost Element. © Copyright, Carian Elen. **Author's Note**: I know this is silly, but it's something that's really bugging me. The chapter titles (Chapter One: Family, e.g)... it's extremely hard to centre them and I've tried to do that and underline it and everything, but it refuses to work. So just um... imagine they're underlined and in the centre, as well as bolded. Yeah.
