In 1987, Michael Jackson is at the height of fame during the Bad era - adored by the world yet painfully alone behind closed doors.
One sleepless night changes everything.
While wandering the city after midnight to escape the pressure of celebrity life, he meets a mysterious Liberian woman standing beneath the glow of rain-soaked streetlights. She doesn't treat him like a superstar. She treats him like a person.
What begins as a chance encounter turns into secret late-night phone calls, stolen conversations, and a connection neither of them can explain. Her voice becomes his comfort during exhausting tours and endless studio sessions. And without telling her, Michael records one of their calls - preserving her native language inside a song inspired entirely by her.
A song the world would one day know as "Liberian Girl."
