Recommended for Sword & Sorcery fans! A breathtaking fantasy story of an ancient northern world with mystic places and gritty anti-hero type characters, including a complicated love story. Good writing, fun and easy to read with decent lore. “Wow! What a wild rollicking ride. Michael Karner has created a bleak, harsh and haunted world. I felt like I was back reading one of my old sword and sorcery tales. There is everything you could want here. Magic, warriors from exotic backgrounds, rebel’s fighting for survival, prophesy, death cults, tangled love and great action sequences. Wonderful characters, great atmosphere, intrigue and twists. I am looking forward to the next book. 4 out of 5 Stars.” – Leanne Ellis from Bloody Cake News “One action filled scene after another in a merciless world.” - Phil Witvliet from Grimdark Reader “Go give Mr Karner your money, trust me, he keeps at it, in a few years you will be hunting his books anyway, avoid the rush.” - Kevin King The Plot: Dryston of Decia, a poisoned fighter, his ex-lover and sorceress Kyra Celeste and a girl with a death list tattoo will decide the fate of a whole world. Walking on a thin line between good and bad, survival and heroism, they struggle to solve the puzzle of secrets and conspiracies. In a war marking the end of time unpredictable magic, drugs, dead bodies, monsters and a secret plaster their ways and put feelings, loyalties and morals to the test. Will they find the man who is guilty of Dryston’s slow death? Is there a cure? With the fate of the world uncertain, prophecies told and legends rising, how will Dryston and his comrades decide the world’s fate? If you enjoy fast paced action with no filler, strong female characters and gritty anti-heroes then this book is for you!

Later that evening; before they know it, they are witnesses to a brutal double murder. They watch the killers weigh the bodies down and dump them in the lake. Two nights later, Johnny and Kimi are running from the burning wreckage of the Safe House the FBI had put them in. To stay alive, they will have to go Off the Grid and find a way to take down the killers. All they have are their wits and the clothes on their backs. They can't trust anyone! Kimi is 19 and taking computer science classes and is already an expert; more so than most of her instructors. Her best friend and lover; Johnny is 22 and a talented motorcycle mechanic. He is taking automotive engineering and business classes so he can eventually take over his father's motorcycle shop. They were High School sweethearts and have been inseparable for over five years. ...He immediately notices the smell of gas. He dashes to Kimi's room and shouts. "We gotta' get out of here!" He takes her hand and they dash out the back door and into the woods. They get about 100 yards and then stop; just then the house explodes a huge fireball and burns fiercely. They both look at each other in shock. "What do we do now?" asks a terrified Kimi. "I'm not sure, but I know that we can't trust anyone right now! He points deeper the woods and says. "We'll talk later and get a plan, but for now we put some distance between us and the killers..."

What if we were the first in our part of the galaxy to discover the secret of faster than light travel? What if this discovery was 10,000 years before it was supposed to be? Our neighbors had been watching for centuries and were surprised with our early arrival into the Web of Worlds... The Year is 2166: To the people of Earth, the universe seemed to be a very lonely place. Astronomers have discovered tens of thousands of planets; many had indications of organic life. SETI had been searching for signals for over 200 years. There had been a few tantalizing bits of radio or radar energy received but nothing ever proven to be of intelligent origin. But there was an alien civilization out there, in fact many of them linked together in a Web of Worlds. They were watching us quietly, carefully and patiently. It had long been the prime directive of the Web that no developing civilization be contacted until that civilization made it into interstellar space on their own; and that always took time, lots of time. Most Web worlds took 1,000 years or more to go from steam to the atom and none had made it from the atom to a sublight stardrive in less than 5,000 standard years. Every civilization of The Web had proven that faster than light travel was impossible, so there was plenty of time to watch the Earth... The watchers were astounded with the speed of progress of human science and also horrified at the periods of violence. By 2076 nuclear fusion power was widespread on earth. By 2100 the first interplanetary fusion ships explored the Sol system. The men and women of the Anglosphere Alliance began their first missions in ships approaching 0.1c. At that velocity, manned flight to even the nearest stars would take a lifetime. What would happen if a beautiful engineer and a brilliant physicist stumbled upon an artificial gravity field which would make a faster than light drive possible...
