Are you intrigued about what could've been, if only things went a different way for them? You have come to the right place! That's what this story is all about. But I take issue with most Jinx x Ekko fanfics/timebombs either rushing their complicated relationship from 0 (Enemies) to 10 (Best Friends/Lovers), often ignoring crucial aspects of both characters that define their trauma and willingness/unwillingness to reconcile with each other. Jinx is an incredibly complex character. Expect this story to explore that complexity to its fullest. I've been inspired to attempt the impossible; Showcase the most realistic possible path for these two to find their way back to each other. Arcane is a show of tragedy brought forth by circumstance. Unlike most fanfics, this one will focus on a realistic take of what their relationship could have looked like, if at one crucial moment, things went a different way. A boy named Ekko resided in the heart of a suburban town with his family and friends. Thanks to his inventions that possessed the ability to turn back time, he was one step ahead of everyone, allowing him to defeat his adversaries, help his loved ones, and guide his city towards a brighter future. And that future came when one of his versions asked for his help to prevent a war that would plunge the city into total anarchy in just a few days. However, as the danger intensifies and secrets come to light, Ekko will realize that he cannot trust anyone, not even himself. Faced with a much greater threat, he will realize that finding a solution will require something more powerful than his tools. Will Ekko make the decision to face the danger on his own and unwittingly become the very thing he promised to eliminate? Or will he enlist the help of his past and present friends, from whom he walked away, risking their lives to save the world? Whatever their decision, the cities of Zaun and Piltover will need heroes to protect them from whatever the future has in store for them, even if the present is harmed.
