The Third Halstead
A One Chicago Story (Not Entirely Canon)
Before she wore a badge, she was a nurse in a nursing home, working quiet shifts, caring for people the world forgot.
Becoming a cop came later, and even now, at twenty-seven, the youngest Halstead isn't sure she belongs in Chicago PD at all.
Pulled from the academy early by Alvin Olinsky and placed in Intelligence alongside Adam Ruzek, she's given a chance she doesn't think she earned. Surrounded by legends, carrying the Halstead name, and haunted by self-doubt, she's convinced she's only here because of who her brothers are.
She knows everyone in One Chicago.
Molly's feels like home.
But belonging is another matter entirely.
Content note: This story contains mature themes, including violence and child endangerment. No explicit sexual content.
Author's Note:
This story is not fully canon and may differ from the show.
It's about insecurity, second chances, and learning to believe you deserve the badge you wear.
