They thought he was crazy, but he wasn't, and Liam, his friend and psychiatrist, knew that. Zayn never thought that he'd ever step in that place again, but when he sets eyes on Niall, he changes his mind. When Zayn meets Niall, he's reminded of himself, and it's almost painful. Liam and Niall are both idiots when it comes to noticing each other's feelings, but although Liam's alter ego always seems to get in the way, it generally speeds things up.
