"This is where our story ends."
Eden straddles him, relishing in the glory of her capture. She feels powerful, now that she isn't prey any longer. She looks into his eyes, deep and brooding, despite being seven shades lighter than the sun, and waits.
"Your final words before I turn you in?"
She gets off him, and for the first time since his capture, he makes a sound. It wasn't predatory in the slightest.
A whimper.
She tenses, knowing how he could get. How he could make her feel. "Don't play that game with me. You're done for."
"Don't you get it?"
He reaches for her, and she finally builds up the strength to return his gaze back at him. His eyes are full of passion, desire, blurred by the river of tears that spills down his cheeks.
"This isn't a game."
His voice is so very thick, so very hurt, so very Irish. It was beginning to irritate her. Nothing, no one, should be able to make her feel like this. And yet, here she is, falling for his charm once more.
"This is war."
He looks at her as if she was the only thing in this world, and she flinches. Eden hated staring into his eyes. They were too mesmerizing. She stares at his lips instead. Full and pink and asking to be bitten. To be punished.
"Our love is war. And I can't- I won't- lose."
