Ty kisses Amy for the first time, then leaves her a letter & disappears. She's heartbroken and angry. Four months later Ty shows up at Calgary General Hospital, unconscious & beaten up by a gang of thugs. A nurse finds Jack Bartlett's name & number in Ty's wallet and calls Heartland Ranch the night of Amy's 16th birthday party. Jack leaves the party unannounced and visits Ty.
