He left a mark I never asked for. Now he wants to finish the piece. Amina Westbrook didn't choose motherhood. But when her younger sister dropped a baby and disappeared, Amina stepped up, raised that little girl as her own, and never looked back. Seven years later, the past comes tatted, cocky, and fine as hell-standing in the grocery store with the same hypnotic eyes her daughter sees in the mirror. Santiago Vega. Zuri's father. The man who left before he ever knew she existed. Now he wants in. He wants time. Forgiveness. A chance to be a father. And every time he shows up with that deep voice and soft smirk, Amina hates how badly she wants to let him. Santiago isn't just showing up for Zuri-he's showing up for her. Fixing things she didn't ask him to fix. Dropping money in her hand like it's his right. Touching her like he already knows how she breaks. Amina's been holding everything together for so long, she doesn't know how to let go. Doesn't know how to want someone who actually stays. But Santiago stays. Through the attitude. The boundaries. The sparks that keep catching fire. And when he finally gets his hands on her? There's nothing soft about it. Now she's spiraling in his sheets, clashing with him in front of her family, and falling harder than she ever meant to. Because Santiago doesn't just want to play daddy. He wants the whole damn family. And this time, he's not leaving until he has them. Ink Don't Lie is a gritty, emotionally charged, standalone romance about second chances, found family, and the kind of love that refuses to walk away.

"Could I talk to you for a minute?" I went on to ask Stokeley as he sat alone in the basement with a blunt in hand. "No." "Here we go again.." I mumbled to myself, discreetly rolling my eyes. "We just talked about this last night and you apologized, now we're back to square one." "Don't care." He blew smoke from his nose. "Alright." I nodded slowly. "..and you know what, neither do I." I spoke up, tired of him and his shitty, weird attitudes. He was just a big ball of negative energy and I was sick of it. Mostly because all he was going to do was turn around and apologize then expect everyone to forgive him. "Who you talking to like that?" "You." I snapped, fed up as he looked up at me with his eyebrows raised. The room grew silent, making this more dramatic than intended. He then stood to his feet, looking down at me with a scowl plastered on his face. "You better watch yo' mother fucking mouth." Deciding I wanted no trouble with him, I grabbed my stuff to go. "Sierra, I'm leaving." I spoke once leaving out of the basement. "Why? What's wrong?" She asked as she sat on the couch with Johnny in the living room. "I'm tired of him and his shitty ass attitude." I spoke truthfully, pointing towards the basement door. I was done curving my tongue. "Just because you lost someone important to you doesn't mean you can treat everyone around you like shit. We've all lost people." Everyone looked at me with wide eyes as if they'd never expected me to be this way but it was just how I felt. I needed to let it out. Unlike some people I didn't hold things in. "I'm leaving. I'll see you back at home. See y'all." I spoke, excusing myself and walking out of the front door.

"Hello, Sincere. How are you feeling today?" "Same as everyday, can't sleep, can't eat.." I trailed off, looking down at Sinclair who had a perfect mixture of both V and I. "That's not good." She said and I shrugged. "None of this is." I said and she nodded understandingly. "Have faith." She said, placing her hand on my shoulder and I nodded. I tried hard to keep the tears in because I had to be strong for everybody. The family was really going through it and I just wanted her back in my arms. V had my heart and if I lost her for good, I'd never look for love again. The doctor walked out as I sat there quietly and Clair looked over my face while she made spit bubbles. I bit my bottom lip, holding back tears as I looked at V laying there with tubes in her. Not able to hold on any longer, I broke down. "Baybeh, I need you..." I trailed off, shaking my head. "I need you so bad, I can't do this shit. I can't do life with you." I explained, looking down at the floor. "We need you, ma." My voice cracked, looking over to Sinclair who was still looking up at me. "Our baybeh girl is so beautiful, ma. I want you to see her, I want you to see her grow up. I want you to be here with us.." I trailed off, collecting my words. I wiped my face as more tears poured down and I shook my head, sighing deeply. "Wake up, baybeh." I spoke, breaking down as I bit my bottom lip.
