Katsuki contemplated joining Izuku in his pronounced death, but he told him self Izuku wouldn't want that. So, Katsuki strived to be a hero just for Izuku. As he was on his way to being top hero, Izuku came back. He came back different, only using Katsuki because of how desperate he was to show he changed.
