After two years of travelling, 21 year-old Madeleine King is ready to get a job. Coincidentally Albus Dumbledore is looking for assistants to work with the Hogwarts professors. This could be Madeleine's chance to work towards becoming a Herbology teacher, her absolute dream! So she applies.
