Nate's mother broke his heart long before any girl had the chance to. He suffered another loss when the first girl he fell in love with left him with cancelled plans and a broken heart. All the women in his life seems to leave him broken; so as a defence measure to protect his broken heart, he lives under the pretence of being a spoiled and insensitive casanova. He's contented with the way things are--at least that's what he tells himself. He's convinced that being uncaring and engaging in transient relationships is enough; until an unknown girl is washed ashore in the beach that he happens to own. Before long, Nate finds himself being the enemy of numerous people--malicious and powerful people. Is he willing to risk his life for this new woman whom he has started to have feelings for? Every woman he cared for gave him nothing but pain and heartache; he gave so much yet received so little back. Is he willing to open up his barricaded heart and finally love again? And most importantly, is she worth it? Is she worth the risk?

"We all wear masks, and the time comes when we cannot remove them without removing some of our own skin." - André Berthiaume. Unfortunately, when the Invisible Hand calls himself a super villain, he means it. He is totally, irrevocably, 100% evil. Even though he does stupid things to get a girl to laugh... Even though he took her to Iceland to see the Northern Lights... Even though he saved her life not once, but twice... He still dropped her off the Chrysler Building and left her to die. That girl was me. For Angel Marie, love was a petty thing that was to be laughed at, something that belonged in fairytale novels for that was what they will always remain to be: fiction. Pulling a facade that conceals her shattered heart from a heartbreak many years ago, she had excelled in the tough girl exterior with one simple sentence that defines her; "I don't love." And yet fate does silly, ridiculous things to us. Angel proposes a challenge towards life. And so life adds it's own challenge for Angel. Joseph McGraw. {extended description inside} (A/N Sorry for any grammer mistakes/typos you may find! Will be edited once the story is completed.
