Danny is proclaimed "dead" by his parents after passing out from exhaustion after a long drawn out fight with a ghost. Do too his ghost half being unstable it causes his human half to appear deceased. Danny slipped into a comatose state and his ghost half glitched. Afraid that Danny may turn into a ghost like the ones they had been fighting they made a special coffin for him and they put deep in the ocean. Anyone who asked was told that they had held a private funeral and there was a fake grave with Danny's headstone on it as well. Someone finds the coffin, someone bat-like.

They saved him from the building collapse and away from the dangers of the world. They raised him and taught him everything he needed to know to survive. They helped him become powerful. At least that's what they said. After being stuck with the GIW for 3 years. They decided to bring Danny in to their work. They needed a new test subject. Why not make Danny one of theirs. He already knew how to fight. So they asked the boy to see why their ghost portal wouldn't work. He went inside and died. Well, half way died. The GIW had succeeded. They had a new weapon. The girl exclaimed her black hair framing her face and purple eyes pinned on Batman, with a glare that would make even him flinch. "He's a hero! He saved my life!"

The boy- no older than sixteen- made his reputation in Arkham the moment he stepped foot in that psycho house. Batman wonders who this boy is. Why was he here? When Danny is captured by the GIW and his alter ego is revealed, the GIW discover that the reason Danny survived the portal accident and became a half ghost (instead of outright dying) was because of an anomaly in his DNA. When they attempt to replicate the accident on the other Fentons, it's revealed that Danny and his family aren't blood related. The GIW's new objective is to find Danny's remaining biological family. It's a good thing Danny's biological brother isn't just any ordinary kid. (Disclaimer - Includes graphic depictions of violence and major character death)
