She was meant to heal the wounded - not stand among them - though she always dreamed of the battlefield. Mirawen of Gondor, daughter of the Steward, has lived her life bound by expectation, hiding both her warrior's heart and her deepest grief. But when a prophetic dream pulls her from Minas Tirith and onto the road to war, everything changes. Among warriors and unlikely heroes, she finds the family she never expected - and a fierce Rohirrim marshal who challenges the walls around her guarded heart. She swore she would never risk loving again... but some bonds refuse to be denied. As darkness rises and war demands everything, Mirawen must choose between safety and truth, fear and love - because in a world at war, opening your heart may be the bravest act of all.
