رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ
Our Lord! Give us in this world that which is good and in the Hereafter that which is good, and save us from the torment of the Fire!
|| Surah Al-Baqarah 2:201
*********
Her life had always revolved around the world-its glamour, its distractions, its fleeting highs. Yes, she prayed when reminded, covered when pressed and avoided what was haram when it was unavoidable but leaving home for university peeled back a curtain to a different reality.
For the first time, there was no mother hovering with gentle insistence-"Have you prayed?"-no father frowning at her choice of clothes, no watchful eyes linking her every move back to Islam.
Here, she could do as she pleased. No questions. No lectures. Just freedom- intoxicating, reckless and entirely her own.
But freedom has a way of shattering.
It took one moment for her life to turn sharply, forcing her to face an incident she had never imagined. In that split second, with fear tightening around her chest, one thought struck her with terrifying clarity:
If I were to die right now, what would I have to show my Creator?
The illusion crumbled.
The fantasy world she had built collapsed in an instant.
And that moment became the beginning. The beginning of a journey back to the faith she was born into but had never truly embraced. The slow rediscovery of her faith and its beauty which she had overlooked all along.
