They're determined to be whatever Varian needs as he heals from Andrew's abusive influence. But nothing ever comes easy for the little alchemist. A secret enlightens the child to a spectacular destiny. And a creeping evil is approaching, threatening to shroud Corona in eternal darkness and its eyes are unfortunately pointed at Varian. What will become of the teenage boy? Is he doomed to be swallowed in pain and loneliness forever? Or will the light be his greatest salvation?
