Nova's family has one enemy. An enemy so powerful, so far-off and impossible to face, he doesn't even seem like a real person anymore. He is simply the Dragon King. It has been so easy for Nova to hate him from afar, remember the atrocities he committed, all the thousands he slaughtered before signing peace treaties with all mortal races, and renouncing his savage ways. Now he sits pretty in a brand new castle, in a brand new Capitol City he built to erase the memory of his own past. Yet to Nova's family, he will always be a threat. When they catch wind of his plan to demolish their family's home in the remote Heavenly Birch Forest to make room for his expanding treasure horde, Nova decides she can no longer sit back and do nothing. She sets out to the Capitol City, and works her way into a position as the Dragon King's maid. There, she hopes to blackmail the powerful beast into sparing her family's forest, and their lives. When she finally meets the legendary Dragon King face to face, she finds a man so much more powerful - and beautiful, and lonely, and complicated - than she had ever imagined. Quickly she realizes all is not as it seems, and that everyone, even an ancient and terrifying Dragon King, deserves a second chance. Cover by Hayakiu

His beautifully realistic painted azure eyes gazed at her from across the room, almost begging her to come closer and study their unlimited depth. Never before had she seen such inhumane beauty, such nauseating accuracy. He was wooden, a doll to be played with; not something to be admired as though he were a man. Had he been carved with that sultry smirk? She was sure he hadn't- Adamant that he hadn't. The expression he now wore frightened Daisy, made her stomach knot. Backing out of the room felt like a chore, like something she shouldn't do but she had to. She was going to return this doll to whomever had sent it, she couldn't handle it's beautiful ultramarine eyes any longer. She needed him gone.

Robbed of her divine powers and secluded within her mountain, Beira, the ancient Queen of Winter, will do the unspeakable to exact her justice, even if she has to employ the help of hags and doom her own children in the process. But as she gains strength, so do her children. * * * * * The Well of Youth is a mythic Fantasy based on loosely interpreted Scottish legends of Beira/Cailleach Bhearra. Content warnings: contains a couple of dark scenes (gore). Recommended reading age: 16+. The art on the cover is mine. #1 on Wattpad in #BadMother stories and for a good reason (as of August 2019). * Winner of EarnestyCommunity Weekly Contest for Memorable Hello. * This story is a backstory to The New Order of Merlin series but can be read independently. There, Beira is the villain. If you're reading The NOOM, to avoid spoilers, I recommend reading this story after you finish Book 1, The Gathering, and Book 2, Cursed, though the real spoilers start at chapter 9 (Raven's Letter). I included a warning at the beginning of that chapter in case you decide to read up to there. Current status: waiting for the plot of Book 2, Cursed, to catch up. * Disclaimer: Starting from Chapter 5, this story blends the myth of Beira with the series The New Order of Merlin (open fanfiction). The Well of Youth will not turn into fanfiction. However, there will be character names mentioned which come from that series. You do not need to read The NOOM or be familiar with any of the fandoms in order to enjoy Beira's tale. After all, THIS is the backstory, not the other way around. But The NOOM is a good series, so I do recommend it. Happy reading, everyone!

Emory has lived in a gloomy mansion underneath the tropical Island of the Fay for nearly two hundred years, perfectly content and perfectly alone. The Raven Queen, the goddess who blesses him and his kind with immortal life in exchange for their service, occasionally sends him on daring missions of thievery that require far more risk and excitement than Emory has ever wanted; still, for the most part his island is a peaceful place, where nothing ever happens. Until the day a massive mud-pit opens, and from it emerges a woman the likes of which Emory has never seen. Midge cannot remember a time before she worked as a dishwasher, errand-girl and all around greyfolk grunt for Titania, the Queen of the Faewild. As part of her duties, she is assigned to serve a visiting dignitary; a mysterious and powerful figure who calls himself Chevalier. Though Midge trusts no fae, Chevalier manages to trick her into a portal that sends her hurtling through planes of existence, until she lands hard upon Emory's island. Midge doesn't like Emory, and Emory doesn't like anyone at all; despite their differences, they are forced to work together to discover Chevalier's ultimate intentions, and thwart his designs upon their destiny.
