In the world of Westeros...there are two kinds of people, from two VERY different types of births...
Trueborns, and Bastards.
Trueborns are the supposedly "righteous" ones, being born from a lawful marriage between a man and his wife. An honest union. But in the case of Bastards...the situation is flipped entirely. Born of lust, dishonesty, and "sinful" passion, Bastards are considered to be creatures of deceit, lies, and hatred. Or so the Faith of the Seven says.
But as always...there are exceptions. Bastards who managed to break the stereotype...
Take Brynden Rivers for example, a bastard of King Aegon "The Unworthy" and Melissa Blackwood, who rose to become Hand of the King, and wielded the legendary Valyrian steel sword "Dark Sister".
Or Orys Baratheon, the founder of House Baratheon, who was the bastard half-brother of Aegon The Conqueror, and helped the Conqueror unite the Seven Kingdoms into one singular realm, with Orys then being awarded Storm's End for his great efforts.
But even both Brynden and Orys cannot compare to the one Bastard, who rose higher and higher no matter what he faced, overcoming every challenge that presented itself to him, no matter how gruelling or tough. The one Bastard, who became greater than any Bastard before him. His name?
Maekar Waters.
The Bastard son of King Jaehaerys II and his sister, Princess Rhaelle Targaryen.
Having been legitimised as a true Targaryen mere weeks after his birth to avoid scandal, Maekar Targaryen grew up his trueborn siblings, Prince Areys and Princess Rhaella, under the love and care of Queen Shaera, who looked at and treated Maekar like he was her own.
But after Robert's Rebellion...everything changed...
Now living in the North in exile, how will the Old Dragon fair, when the War of the Five Kings threatens to tear the realm apart?
He may have been born a Bastard, but he was first and foremost...
A Targareyn...
