That all changed when he became the top of dragon training, and finally gets the chance everyone thought he only dreamed of. To kill a dragon in front of the entire village. Stoick was proud of his son, he had almost lost hope in him. Now, he proved everyone wrong, or so they thought. Hiccup wanted nothing more than to have this chance his entire life! However, that was before he met and bonded with Toothless, a night fury he had shot down weeks ago. Now, he wanted to escape, but not without attempting to convince the vikings that dragons weren't the real threat. He thought his monstrous nightmare match would be the perfect setting for such a feat. When things go sideways, when Toothless saves Hiccup, he has a choice, stay and try one last shot of convincing Berk, or flee with his best friend. He chooses the best option, he flees. Now, he is branded as a trator, a renegade. Stoick practically disowns him and he is never heard from again. five years later, Berk hears mighty tales of a grand hero who rides a night fury. Many call him 'Night Rider', 'Dragon Tamer', and 'Mysterious Rider'. Many doubted that this hero could be their traitorous ex heir to the Berkian leadership. After all, he was described as having a prosthetic leg, very tall, confident, and extremely buffed, while Hiccup was the opposite of all these descriptions. As a baby, Hiccup Haddock was taken by dragons from his home on Berk to the dragon sanctuary. Now, 20 years later, Hiccup is sent to watch over Berk with his Night Fury friend, Toothless. But, all does not go as planned and they end up stuck a little to close to home.

"This is Berk. We have fishing, hunting, and charming views of sunsets. The only real problems we have are our enemies; Dragons. They plague the Archipelago like the Scourge of Odin. They took away many of our fellow Viking, including my childhood friend: Hiccup, who was too kind to be taken by anything with a conscience. When Hiccup was 15 years old when he shot down a Nightfury, and he was 15 years old when he ran away on the back of that same Nightfury, leaving behind his village and his old life. He was 20 when it all caught up to him.

This story is going to be different. Instead of being saved by Toothless, both he and Hiccup are presumed dead. Those are the 'death' that change the Archipelago forever. Clans reunited, the vikings grow stronger and the dragons have become a part of their life. In the blink of an eye, seven years have passed and the Archipelago has grown used to the peaceful nature of their new life. But how would they react when a war between two unknown forces are knocking at their doorstep. A war that could end the Archipelago or turn the Archipelago into something more. In order to keep peace with the Berkians, Haakon, the second son of Oswald the Agreeable, agrees to an arranged marriage, much to his family and his dragon's displeasure. His future wife isn't too happy about the whole situation either, especially when she learns more about the tribe she married into. Hiccup gets exiled because he couldn't kill the Monstrous Nightmare that faithful day. But what will happen when Hiccup returns to Berk years later with a title, an order of knights under his command and sworn enemies. Can Hiccup and his Order unite Berk and the Dragons or will the Order fall.

Adopted by Cloudjumper when he was eight, Hiccup had been happy to leave his old life behind. But now, ten years later, Cloudjumper insists on his returning to the land of his birth. Even though it is only temporary, Hiccup is less than pleased, especially as some things clearly haven't changed. But, as he soon finds out, the journey was not made in vain.
