Dick Grayson was fed up with Batman, that's true, but he was also tired, tired of always being treated like a kid, tired of keeping secrets, tired of fighting his inappropriate feeling for his best friend, just tired. At sixteen Dick left Batman, and he also left the team, he wanted to be his own hero, work by himself with out living under the shadow of the big bad bat, and he was also running, running from the feelings he wasn't supposed to have. Five years later he gets an offer, the team wants him to join, except they don't know he used to be Robin, and he's not about to tell them.

The Justice League somehow winds up several years in the future... Or maybe it's an alternate universe? After all, there seems to be an extra kryptonian protector of this time's Metropolis, one that goes by "Superboy". Alternatively: Clark is ecstatic to see another kryptonian, even if it's one from a (maybe?) alternate universe, but... his fellow kryptonian doesn't appear to share the same feeling of immediate kinship. Luckily enough, Superman wasn't known for giving up!

Every villain needs money, right? But in that kind of buissnes, it's hard to get it the legal way, so why not kidnap a rich child for ransom- or even better, four rich children? That's exactly what the Joker was planning to do, maybe he would even get to kill the Bat and his little bird if they'd come to the boys' rescue. But what happens when the Young Justice is assigned to protect Dick Grayson, Jason Todd, Tim Drake and Damian Wayne, four of the richest children of Gotham?
