When you're marked you have two choices; fight or die. Nance lives in the past, literally. Her city is a recreation of early twenty-first century society. To the outside world they're experiments, just rats running around a maze. In an impoverished future world, the city seems to be their only chance of finding where they went wrong, or so they say. Nance doesn't know the real purpose of her home, and she doesn't care. All she sees are the one hundred teenagers, just like her, who are killed every year in the barbaric ritual known as the marking. They tattoo your face and pit you against your peers, against the city. Nance doesn't know why, but it doesn't matter, because she's sixteen and it's her turn to be marked. **So I decided to replace the original story with the rewrite because they are pretty much exactly the same. Plus, it's a lot less complicated then having two separate books for the same story.** There is a * next to all rewritten chapters. THE ORIGINAL VERSION IS COMPLETE. IT'S JUST NOT MARKED AS SUCH BECAUSE I GAVE UP ON THE REWRITE.

Milo is just an ordinary Delievery boy working for the army. He lives a pretty normal life, except for the occasional nightmares caused by traumatic experiences from his childhood, followed closely by the stress of his job. And it certainly doesn't help his sanity that his Zoid is a pain in the "you know what". Chocolate, his Shield Liger, seems to disappear just when he needs her most. Not to mention she has her radar set for trouble. At times, it seems like she has a mind of her own. But, that's impossible right? She's just a simple Helic Republic issue Shield Liger, nothing fancy outside of a custom paint scheme. Milo's opinions will soon change, when his world is turned upside down and inside out by some rather impossible seeming events. He will get a totally new perspective on life and existence, one he never knew possible.

21-year-old Jackie Sullivan is diagnosed with Schizophrenia from a young age. But that has never been a problem until she reaches 16: the dating age. Then, an incident she refuses to talk about sends her to the Winchester Psychiatric Hospital. People say she is crazy. Heck, even she thinks she is crazy and not worthy of living. Everyone except for Daniel Log, aka Danny The Slayer, a serial killer who enters "The Crazy Hut", as the residents like to call the hospital. And guess what? He lives in the room next door to hers! Jackie knows Daniel is very dangerous and could kill her whenever he wanted. But staying away from him is difficult when he is such a marvelous poet. Is he as bad as people label him? Could there be more to Daniel than just the fact that he is a murderer? Jackie will risk her life, her heart, and her sanity (if she has any left, that is) to unveil the truth behind the Madman's mask.
