Sloane can remember some of her life, but she doesn't remember everything. After making it to Fort Saunders with her maybe - maybe not boyfriend Jagger and a depressed Cole, they don't find what they expect. Fort Saunders is long gone, ever since a hoard of the undead had infiltrated the supposed safe place. Things are happening that Sloane doesn't know about - things that affect her. The army has finally arrived, but instead of helping the survivors, they're killing them and not asking questions. They're also looking for her, hoping to bring her back to her father. But after learning that this new world is partially his fault, Sloane doesn't want to go with the army, she decides to go alone.
