Plagued with nightmares of the horrors he had witnessed in the icy land and burdened with memories he's trying desperately to forget, Will finds himself turning to his mentor for help and comfort. Halt, for his part, is doing everything he can to bring the boy back to his cheerful, carefree self. But it isn't always easy. This is a side of the Ranger's Apprentice series that we never got to see. The parts where battles were fought against not armies, but one's own mind. And where winning wasn't always a given. But as Will fights against the darkness, he learns that he isn't alone. He has his friends, and most importantly, he has Halt. And in the grim faced Ranger alone, he finds a mentor, friend and father. Note: This is primarily set between Book 4 and 5 of the series.
